Faculty Development

We help instructors and advisors create, develop, and assess digital assignments in their classes. The Digital ACT Studio focuses on effective pedagogies that reflect the best practices of digital rhetoric and helps in the incorporation of projects into course syllabi.

We recognize that faculty and grad student instructors wishing to integrate such digital assignments often have a range of questions and needs before such a project can be successfully undertaken by their students. We recommend a three-pronged approach to making sure faculty and their students have the support they need.

  1. Schedule a meeting with DACTS Director, Dr. Vaughn Stewart, to discuss the project, its timing across the semester, the pedagogical goals, scheduling workshops, creating rubrics, and integrating consultations from DACTS consultants as part of the project process. Please email Vaughn at vaughn.stewart@uncg.edu.
  2. Schedule a workshop to support the students’ abilities to know the rhetorical effectiveness of the genre in which they’re working.
  3. Encourage or require students to bring their projects to the Digital ACT Studio for consultations. Providing finalized assignments to the director, who can then disseminate them to the consultants, will ensure that the students are getting specialized help.

In all things, we always want to be flexible and adaptable to instructor and student needs. We are happy to create custom workshops, book space for guided workdays, and modify our approach to support an instructor’s particular requirements.
