General Guidelines

• Posters should reward a skim as well as an in-depth reading.
• Posters are read vertically, so arrange your sections beginning from the top left, moving down and across as you go.
• Font size is important, since they are often read at a distance. Do NOT reduce font size to squeeze in more information.
• Use lists and bullet points instead of copying and pasting unbroken blocks of text.
• Do NOT use images as a background for text. It obscures the image and impairs readability.
• Choose a tonally appropriate color palette with 3-5 colors total.
